Alive 1.0 is a kinetic textile surface which expands and contracts at a fixed tempo, giving the viewer an impression of it being alive and breathing. Biophilia is a hypothesis that we as humans have an innate urge to affiliate to other forms of life. By bringing a textile surface to life, the viewer is encouraged to engage and connect with the material form, bringing in a biophilic affiliation toward the textile object.
